Movement Medicine Teacher Training

  • Grand Street Healing Project 105 Grand Street Brooklyn, NY, 11249 United States (map)

The Movement as Medicine Method is a combination of many different movement modalities and somatics creating a revolutionary system that has generated results across my 12+ years of teaching group movement classes & working with people 1-1. It rests on the principle that how we relate to our bodies is how we relate to the world around us. When we understand movement as a medicine we can show up fully for ourselves and our lives, because we know that we embody the potential to heal.

This teacher training is for people who teach movement (yoga, Pilates, group fitness, dance, etc.) and know that their impact reaches beyond helping people feel physically fit. This is for the instructors who want to reach the whole person and use movement as a medicine… to empower, support, to challenge, to grow, to heal, to transform.

This training will take place across 5 days, 8 hours each day. On days 1 through 3 the first half of the day will be dedicated to anatomy & physiology, teaching philosophy (including group facilitation from a liberation based social justice lens), and foundational concepts in Pilates, somatics, kinesiology, functional neurology and more. Then the 2nd half of the day will be learning movements to apply the pedagogy. Day 4 will include learning self massage techniques and class design. Day 5 will be practice teaching.

You’ll walk away with new movement tools, vision and language to hold space with both rigor and compassion as the medicine of movement carries your students into new depths of body wisdom.
