Medicinal Plant Walk + Eco Art Therapy

  • Grand Street Healing Project 105 Grand Street Brooklyn, NY, 11249 United States (map)

Learn how to identify healing medicinal plants in NYC's very own parks! This is an opportunity to connect deeply with nature in a city where we can feel like it's lacking.

We'll meet at McCarren park to begin our plant ID field trip. We'll practice a plant meditation so you can tune into the abundant messages that they have to share.

This is a practice to ask for consent with harvesting and leaving offerings to our plant allies. After the walk, we'll walk down to Grand Street Healing Project and work with fresh organic herbs from Sawmill Herb Farm.

We'll engage in herbal medicine making where you'll learn how to make your very own herbal gylcerite! You'll also enjoy a fun guided eco art therapy activity.

Facilitated by: Laura Rubin: Clinical Herbalist, Flower Essences Practitioner, and Herbal Educator

Herbalism shined this beautiful light. It's truly every people's medicine, from the beginning of time!

Grateful for her many plant allies and mentors, she studied at the California School of Herbal Studies and learned from renowned herbalists around the world like 7Song, Thomas Easley, David Hoffman, Liz Nieves, Brian Bowman, Jenn Bredesen, Christa Sinadinos and more. She has also sat with elders, learning indigienous plant medicine in the Amazon rainforest.

Since 2018, Laura has shared her expertise on herbalism and gut health with national and global audiences, runs workshops across the U.S., and supports dozens of clients through 1:1 private sessions. She is also President of the New York City American Herbalists Guild.
